about devlogs

it seems that the 'Devlog' form (the one I am currently typing into) is quite gigantic and sprawling with many fields and considerations, which likely does not condone fast iteration of game versions. The upload process of patches is much less severe on itch than something like steam, but still has some friction derived from a conversion process between development and live version. I have spent the last few days trying to resolve problems uploading here as well as trying to close the loop between uploading and development to approximate a frictionless iteration and improvements cycle, so the premise of elaborating each individual change or update like I would in a competitive balancing multiplayer scenario is likely off the table.

in practice, this means there will most likely be many  'stealth updates' without any devlog to explain them.
perhaps I could become more attuned to writing about important or major expansions and topics, but for an example the update that prompted this was an upgrade to the character traits UI, which is likely something nobody has even seen or cared about yet, and I could have already improved the game some more if I weren't sitting here writing in my dev-diary or w/e

my mentality moving forward will be that minor improvements/fixes are taken for granted. For the more interesting topics like entire features, expansions, etc. I may explain their theory/design or note their arrival, but they are unlikely to have complete "patch notes" since it would just add another layer of friction into the design/upgrade/convert/upload iteration loop.

consider this a "note to self" from the time it was written
